Top Hits of 1998

Grunge music was the top enough to make fashion.

Marilyn Manson

The album, Mechanical Animals, is Marilyn Manson's most successful album. He got the name Marilyn Manson as a combination from the names of the movie star Marilyn Monroe and the psycho killer Charles Manson. The band's name would later change to just Marilyn Manson. His musical influences were Ozzy Osbourne and KISS, he recruited other musicians with the same interests.

Madonna

She won three Grammy Awards for RAY OF LIGHT in the categories, Dance Recording, Pop Album, and Music Video.

Usher

The following song, "Nice & Slow" and "My Way," were in the US chart-topper in March 1998. He stayed number one on the R&B charts for eight weeks and became his first number one pop single. In the meantime, Usher launched an acting career, appearing in the 1998 horror movie, The Faculty.

Green Day
Boss Larry Livermore was unimpressed, and tried to put them off by making their audition 200 miles away at his home in the Mendocino Mountains. This band arrived in the rain to find that Livermore was not there, no roof and no electricity, but they refused to be defeated. So they rigged up a generator and played to an audience of 12 kids. Livermore was so impressed he put up the money for two days recording of their first album "39/Smooth".
Korn
When recording their best-selling in 1998, Follow the Leader, Korn made national headlines when a student in Miami, was suspended for wearing a T-shirt of the group's logo. The school's principal later declared their music "indecent, vulgar, and obscene," prompting the band to issue a cease-and-desist order. Their annual Family Values tour also started in 1998, featuring a lineup that had Korn, Limp Bizkit and Ice Cube and Rammstein. The tour was an enormous success, so much so that it continued on with Korn overseeing the lineup for years after.
